Established in 2015, the Kiwanis Club Micro-Grant Program awards grants of up to $500 to classroom teachers and programs based at Petaluma area schools. The grants can be used for a specific project or to fulfill a particular need. In the inaugural year, the Club awarded $15,000 in grants to more than 40 local teachers benefiting hundreds of local school children.
For the 2016-17 School Year, the Club has granted more than $25,000 to 69 local teachers from public, private and alternative schoools. This amounts to a 66% increase in funding over the first year.
